CORPORATE YACHT OWNERSHIP

Sarnia Yachts works closely with its clients and their advisors, brokers and agents to provide the most appropriate yacht ownership structures. This is usually achieved through the provision of a company, which is recorded as the registered owner of the yacht.

One of the benefits of forming and incorporating a registered limited liability company for the ownership of a yacht is that the shareholders create a body which is recognised as being a separate legal entity. By incorporating, a distinction is made between the company and its shareholders and as such a shareholder’s liability is limited, offering protection to the shareholder’s personal interests and assets.

Companies, for which administration services are provided from Guernsey, can be incorporated in the following jurisdictions:

  • Cayman Islands
  • Isle of Man
  • United Kingdom
  • British Virgin Islands
  • Guernsey
  • Malta

For reasons of confidentiality the shares of such companies can be held by Sarnia nominees to the order of the client.

Sarnia Yachts’ administration services for yacht owning companies include:

  • provision of registered office
  • maintenance of accounting and statutory records
  • provision of directors and officers
  • daily financial administration of the company’s records.

Sarnia Yachts’ corporate yacht ownership services are useful for owners:

  • who do not wish to sail under their ‘own’ flag
  • whose home country flag requirements are lengthy or onerous
  • who require registration formalities completed quickly
  • who wish the yacht to be owned by a corporate vehicle for estate planning purposes
  • who wish the yacht to be owned by a corporate vehicle for legitimate tax planning purposes.
