British flag registration is the most universally accepted registration and buyers of British registered yachts obtain good title when they purchase because of the degree of documentary evidence required at the time of registration. Further, when financing is being considered by banks or other lending institutions, such yachts are favoured because not only can legal title be readily established from the British register but the process of obtaining marine mortgage registration is straightforward and relatively inexpensive.
Owners of British flagged yachts may call on British Consulates around the world in the event of difficulties.
