Yacht Ownership
Segregated yacht ownership can provide considerable advantages and peace of mind to owners of all sizes and types of vessel.
Forming a Company, Partnership or other arrangement to own and operate a yacht provides asset protection for the owner and can provide a number of other benefits including:
- Qualification for a flag not available to the individual owner
- Delegation of the day-to-day running of the yacht
- Access to yachting expertise and contacts
- Ring fencing the yacht from a liability perspective
- Beneficial Owner Discretion
- VAT registration at a suitable jurisdiction for commercial yachts
Sarnia Yachts works with you in selecting the most appropriate type and jurisdiction for incorporation.
We can manage the whole process from start to finish and administer the corporate yacht owning entity going forward ensuring it complies with all of its regulatory obligations.
Alternatively, we can work alongside an owner’s legal and fiduciary teams, assisting with specialist knowledge and up-to-date understanding of today’s regulations in this specialist sector. Increasingly we act as a trusted partner supporting family offices with the specialist aspects involved in owning and operating a yacht.
A Regulated Entity
The Sarnia Yachts Group is comprised of many different companies each specialising in the provision of different services to yacht owners. As you’d expect with company formation and administration, the Sarnia Yachts entity which provides this service is regulated, with Sarnia Yachts Limited regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission.
As part of the ongoing administration following incorporation we provide, or arrange for the provision of, company directors, a company secretary and registered office, and these services also fall under the provision of regulated services.
In the event that we advise on the corporate structure, rather than form it ourselves, Sarnia Yachts can provide ongoing consultancy and guidance to the corporate service provider or family office to ensure a smooth passage for the company.
